Martin Cherry has been shooting photojournalism for 15 years. Starting at The Journal Newspaper in Martinsburg, West Virginia. There he excelled by winning several awards from the West Virginia Press Association in photo essays, sports and portraits. Cherry worked at a custom-content publisher, Journal Communications as a travel photographer. There, he crisscrossed the country photographing for several magazines for print and online. Then he was hired at the Nashville Business Journal as staff photographer. Photographing business leaders in the Middle Tennessee area.

Currently, Martin Cherry resides in his hometown of Nashville, Tennessee where he is the staff photographer at the non-profit news site Nashville Banner since 2023. Cherry photographs news, portraits, and events for the online publication.
